2021 Weemala Shiraz Viognier

For those that enjoy something just a little bit different, our extremely drinkable Weemala range has a very loyal following. They're all complex with pretty aromas, deep flavours and excellent value for money.

Weemala is both an Aboriginal word for ‘good view’ and the name of the Logan vineyard in Mudgee. The little devils on the labels represent the local Mudgee birds that have too good a view of our vines in Mudgee and Orange.

TASTING NOTES

Our Weemala Shiraz Viognier is a two-by-two blend – two varieties and two regions. It’s even a blend of two colours. The red shiraz and white viognier grapes are grown in both our Mudgee and Orange vineyards so that we can harvest both varieties at the same time and crush them together into the one tank where the white and red juice can mingle and mix their flavours and tannins during fermentation. This gives greater complexity and a smoother mouthfeel than if the shiraz had fermented on its lonesome.

The two regions and the two varieties combined beautifully in 2021 to produce a charming smooth, perfumed red, full of berries, plums, flowers and spice. An immensely satisfying, enjoyable drop made for sipping and sharing.
