Weemala

2021 Weemala Pinot Noir

The Weemala range is a little bit quirky and has attracted a loyal following for its restrained, elegant and excellent value for money wines. Weemala is both an Aboriginal word for ‘good view’ and the name of the Logan vineyard in Mudgee. The little devils on the labels represent the local Mudgee birds that have a very good view of the Logan vines.

One of the delights of exporting wine is seeing the different cultural approaches to drinking wine and pairing it with food. I get particularly entertained reading our reviews from abroad, particularly where English is not the mother tongue. The Scandinavians have taken a liking to this Weemala Pinot Noir and I did smile when reading this review for the 2021 from Sweden:

“What kind of reds do you offer this summer? Perhaps a moisturizing pinot whose tones are drawn to sunny strawberries, violet, light pepperiness and great freshness?”

Perhaps the Nordics bath in red wine during those enchanting white nights of the northern summer. Feel free to give it a try…or just sip with cold meats and good company.
